reminders & rituals

There is no cure for grief. Healing after the death of a loved one is not linear and success is not closure. Rather, we process our grief. We carry the loss forward. And over time, we begin to carry it differently. As we navigate this critical life transition, we often develop personal coping mechanisms. For example, an object, a scent, or a phrase that anchors us and provides comfort. Perhaps we regularly light a candle at home or visit a specific place. Maybe we keep an extra chair at the dinner table. Or write a letter and keep it safe in a drawer. What is your object of comfort, reminder, or ritual? How have you integrated it into your life?Send us a brief description of how you remember and honor your loved one. Our plan is to create a gallery section to share your submissions.Click on the Submit button to go to the submission form.Thank you for sharing.

By exploring how design methods can support individuals navigating grief, we hope to better understand how we live with loss. This work-in-progress employs participatory design methods, including journey mapping grief experiences, co-design sessions, and prototyping rituals and memory objects through hands-on play.If you would like to learn more about us and our work, send us an email and we can set up a brief call. Participation is entirely voluntary and at no cost to you.Thank you for your interest.
